Exploring the Limits
This series was stimulated by my seeing M.C. Escher's Circle Limit III at Boston's MFA at the time that I was creating kaleidoscopic iterations. I started researching into Escher's approach when I realized that his work went beyond a straight-forward kaleidoscopic rendition. My investigation uncovered a body of mathematical papers and discussion on the underlying spherical geometry which Escher employed.
The pieces in this series show my own exploration into creating designs using the morphograpic archtectonic process. My intent is constructing interesting, absorbing dynamic designs via transformations of a selected section of an original photo rather than being rigorously mathematical.
